Itara

The women of Itara join together to make handcrafts to support each other and increase their families’ livelihood. The sewn items are made by women in a local Kigali church in order to support other poor and vulnerable women. “Blessed to be a blessing”. They began in their own church and have expanded to reach others in neighbouring churches.

These aprons serve a practical purpose in Rwanda, helping women and men keep their clothes clean as they work, whether it be in the kitchen, at the hospital or other places. The traditional Rwandan Kitenge fabric is 100% cotton.

Ark Sisters

This Self Help Group (SHG) is made up of Muslim and Christian women who met in a sewing class. They had heard about our SHG program and reached out to us to help them form an official group.  It is impressive how these women have put aside religious differences, in an area where religious division and conflict are so prominent, to work together for the good of their families and community.

Kallie Hutton

Kallie Hutton and her husband Tim work alongside CBM’s partner, the Bolivian Baptist Union and its development arm, OBADES, to build and support effective programs and ministries. This includes training and mobilizing local churches to participate in initiatives that care for their communities holistically. They’re also involved in capacity building within the Baptist Seminary, particularly in the area of libraries and information access.
